Lifelong Learning through Technology
Dan Gasparrini, Facilitator, Designer, Founder, Cyberdocent, etc.
Wired Geezers is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to provide resources for an older adult to use technology in the pursuit of Lifelong Learning.
This site revisits the project started in April, 2000 as SeniorLearning.com. Classes were held at the Knowledge Development Center (KDC) in Atlanta, GA, and 'graduated' over 250 older adults during the three year period. This resource, then, is the evolved, renewed, and expanded version (Ver. 2.0) started in the Spring of 2007. This Web site served as a resource for the course syllabus and materials for the Emory Center for Lifelong Learning Course in using searching strategies and the Internet Browser as a key to lifelong learning (offered first in Summer Session, 2007).
Wired Geezers will continue to 'gather' (rather than 'meet' [too structured!]) in various Wi-Fi Hotspot locations including 'Senior' Centers, and Lifelong Learning/Continuing Education venues in and around Atlanta. Inherently, bringing your laptop will enhance learning on your own machine. A high-definition data projector will be used so that the featured topic and any other topic(s) could be projected onto a wall/screen for demonstration and be easily seen due to high contrast and brilliance of the image.
